His Music serves
as his most eloquent biographer. As the lucky recipients
of such a large proportion of his creative output, we
saxophonists should indeed be grateful.

Carl Anton Wirth, Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Eastman
School of Music, earned the Bachelors and Masters degrees
under the tutelage of Howard Hanson and Bernard Rogers.
Upon graduation he taught at Iowa State Teachers College,
a position he left to persue a short, but sucessful
career as the first organic farmer in Michigan.

As a conductor
and arts activist Mr.Wirth founded The Twin Cities Symphony,
The Rochester Symphony Orchestra, The Indonesian National Symphony,
The Rochester City Music Program, The Central Sierra Arts Council,
the Trimble-Wirth Duo, and was an early officer in the American
Symphony League.
His compositions
have been performed by the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra,
the Chicago Ballet and many other orchestras throughout the
world. He composed 34 pieces for the saxophone from Concerti
to several Indonesian inspired works, which would make Carl
Anton Wirth one of the most prolific composers for saxophone
in the world!
